zit remedy is here

Thank you all for your incredibly helpful responses regarding skins. I've begrudgingly removed all traces of corn (and therefore all delicious cheesy covered piratey snacks) from my diet and that seems to have done the trick! Here are a few that I especially enjoyed (though I highly recommend taking a gander at all of them):

In a teacup I combine milk, honey and a tablespoon of sugar. Rub it onto your wet face. It's a great exfoliant, and makes your skin incredibly soft!
You can also just add the sugar to your normal cleanser, it's easier.

There are TONS of amazing home remedies and beauty treatments you make with ingredients in your pantry at PantrySpa.com
A couple that I really love for oily skin and pimples are: Acne Dermabrasion Treatment with Eggs.

i love home treatments. my favourite is a green tea face scrub. you make a cup of green tea, but only fill about a third of the cup with water. then put 3 tablespoons of sugar into a bowl, and add a tablespoon of green tea. then add a teaspoon of lemon, and viola!! green tea face scrub. you can also use it on you lips, which works really well. it makes my skin super soft and clear, and i get terrible skin at times! the scrub lasts for a week in the fridge, and you can use the left over green tea as toner. hope this helps!!

But of course, the best advice was the one I was hoping not to hear (curse you delicious foods!)

Forget the topical treatments for your skin. It's breaking out because of the foods you put inside. Eat fresh fruit, juice fresh fruit and vegetables (if you can) - DON'T EAT LATE and drink lots of water with a normal sleep. Skip the breads, starch and junk for a few days. Eat salads.

You're breaking out in the chin area because of yeast or sugar overdose probably.

If you want a topical treatment, let your skin breathe for a couple of days without products and you can steam it with a clay mask after, fresh aloe vera or whatever you've got.

(Honorable mention goes to strange spam that recommends to "Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you will not have a leg to stand on.")

Landon and I have been invited to attend the upcoming Chictopia10 conference! Even more exciting than my own invitation was seeing that my beloved and talented friend Alexandra Grecco has been selected along with four other designers to showcase her beautiful collection! I'm very excited as this will no doubt open the floodgates to much deserved success for her. Many congratulations Alex!

Now that we're back in wonderful, blizzardy New York I've begun unwrapping all of the goodies amassed while away starting with these five dresses that I'm trying to pick from for Saturday's events.

which dress to wear this saturday?

help me pick!

with boater hat

with beige bow

with black bow

what's your pick of the pack?

  1. I really like the last two! Have a great time in NYC! Take lots of pics for all us that cant be there! It's looking pretty cold there so stay warm! :)

  2. all the dresses are lovely, but i especially like the last one!

i find any homemade scrub i've ever tried to make involving sugar just ended up a big, sticky mess.

    have fun!

  5. the first dress!!

anywho,my face was a total zit fest for the past few weeks, months? I wore this awful dirty wig on halloween and my forehead was just about one giant pimple since then, it was horrible, then slowly my face got all crusty and started breaking out too. I tried this retinol cream which totally burned my face. It stung to put on makeup. So I had to stop that immediately. After a tip on another blog, I bought myself some Jojoba oil from Whole foods and have been putting this stuff on at night and a little in the morning. This morning I was in total awe at how much better it looked with something so simple. Dont think I'll got with store bought things for a while now.

  8. That last dress is really great... but you have such a super sexy sultry beautiful style that the second to last would be sooo lovely. All of them are so great though.

  9. Love all the dressies, but my fave is the very first.

Also! Congrats on making it back to eastside with this weather! Over here (Seattle) flights to the east have been cancelled left and right.

For my skin I make sure I drink lots of water, and I also use the classic Apricot Scrub from st ives. I love it.

  10. They are all incredibly beautiful but I would have to say dress number 2 would be my pick :)

  11. Most definitely the first one... or maybe the last... they are all so pretty!

  12. The FIRST or the LAST. The first looks perfect for the season...I feel like I could float away to a winter dream scape in its layers...the last looks more formal, perhaps with some pearls-or you could go nuts with some vibrant tights...but I'd probably go with the first...because it'd make me feel pretty and if I feel pretty I can be sexy, rawr!

Good luck! These are gorgeous dresses!

  13. i like the third... because it looks comfortable and the fourth... because i love white/cream dresses.

  20. The last one! I think it would be the most flattering for your figure.

Welcome back to freeze town. Let's try and get together over the next few weeks.

You should come over and play beauty salon one day. One of my best friends works at Bliss and I received my yearly large package of goodies. It's not made from sugar or honey but weird foaming evaporating face massage is still fun.

  21. I agree with the other comments; the last one would be lovely!

  22. All the dresses would be awesome on you, but maybe not the third one, it seems a little too casual. That would be perfect for the summer.

  26. omigod. I am constantly obsessing about whether it's my diet or my face products that cause me to break out. and my husband likes to tell me I'm imagining things, which doesn't help matters any.

  29. Oh lordy.. I have the same struggle with spots on my chin and I've been told it's yeast and sugar too... but I love beer too much to give it up! Damn and blast!!!!

  32. So glad my advice helped :) I've been struggling to eat healthy lately too, but in the end it's really worth it to have clear, dewy skin!

In my case I think about this before I agree to make that huge plate of delicious quesadillas or german chocolate at 3am (haha) and just opt for matcha green tea or a large glass of water.

My, it's work to be beautiful that's for sure, but I always remember a quote saying that there are no ugly women, just lazy ones!
