a glimpse of stockings

working feet taking a break

Nine auctions now up in the shop! Ebay has proven much harder to navigate than I had imagined and now wish I had taken your advice and gone to easy etsy route! Am extremely relieved that that's finished though (and with minimal mistakes I hope?). If you win an item over 50 dollars send me a message letting me know that you read this blog and I'll send along little extra something for you!

This week I answered a few questions for one of my favourite blogging ladies Tara-Lynn! You can read the interview here (part one) and here (part two). Make sure to take a tour of her blog and shop as they are both full of eye candy (shots of her most beauteous family, gorgeous film stills, and cozy handmade knits). Tara-Lynn, you're a wonderful lady and I hope that one day we can share a sofa and a bowl (or two, or three) of popcorn while watching our film favourites.

It's time for me to take a much needed break from this computer and re-adjust my eyes to the 3-D world. I hope you enjoy the listings! (Friends who applied for the internship in LA, I've not forgotten you, I'll be getting back to all of you this week, thanks!)

The Loved One

thelovedone

Hello friends, I am much recovered (though still experiencing more booger production than I care for). Thank you again for all your warm wishes of health! I've made this tumblr to fill with news about the shop so as to avoid bombarding this blog in future. I have the first collection all set to go and a second in the works (something extra special for you brides to be and white dress enthusiasts).

Alas, we are still without small furry companions. The rain has kept us and our kitty lady indoors and we've not had a chance to deliver our adoption forms as a result. By the end of this week though (brain fist shake) I better have kittens or promise of kittens!

On a final note, my partner in LA is on the look-out for an intern (unpaid at present as we're a bit unpaid as well) to help around the office. Duties include drooling (and then steaming drool) on delicious vintage attire, sewing minor repairs and lounging around the laundromat eating oreos and reading year old copies of "O" magazine. If this sounds of interest to you let me know! It would be rather informal and something to hopefully inspire you in your own creative endeavors!

spring, summer, fall, winter...and spring

spring ebaying

Thank you for all the well wishes on my previous post! Your kind thoughts were successful as my sense of taste returned just in time for a dinner of delicious chicken of the fried variety. I was also able to control my leaky nostrils for brunch with the truly lovely and most enjoyable breakfast companion Ginny of GinnyBranch fame. I left our meeting grinning unabashedly at having met such a jewel of a lady.

One of the changes I had planned to make on this blog was to avoid future updates featuring me wearing hats or sulking in front of my wall (will continue those vainglorious activities on flickr) but I'm making a special exception with this entry to announce the upcoming launch of our ebay store! I'm sharing the date with you because I will then be held accountable to honor that date (which I am unlikely to do if left to my own devises which include plenty of food procrastination, watching Emma Thompson movies and trying to push my teeth into a straight line with my thumbs - a so far unsuccessful venture). The date is March 21st, which along with being national teenagers day, children's poetry and single (I had written "singal" and couldn't figure out why dotted red lines were telling me I was wrong, perhaps should sleep and not write in blog while on nighttime medicine) parent's day is also the first day of spring (though wikipedia says otherwise). In celebration I've picked out a selection of spring-like attire including the dress above. In truth I'm a bit nervous about the whole online selling business - I feel not unlike grandparent's trying to navigate this new (to me) technology. My experience buying online is quite limited so selling will be interesting. While on the subject of internet selling I want to introduce you to an old friend of Landon named Tiffany! Tiffany runs a shop on etsy called Kitten Paws Vintage where she sells a delicious selection of hats and gunne sax. I was lucky enough to nab the perfect floral hat pictured below from her shop. Thank you Tiffany!

zit remedy is here

Thank you all for your incredibly helpful responses regarding skins. I've begrudgingly removed all traces of corn (and therefore all delicious cheesy covered piratey snacks) from my diet and that seems to have done the trick! Here are a few that I especially enjoyed (though I highly recommend taking a gander at all of them):

In a teacup I combine milk, honey and a tablespoon of sugar. Rub it onto your wet face. It's a great exfoliant, and makes your skin incredibly soft!
You can also just add the sugar to your normal cleanser, it's easier.

There are TONS of amazing home remedies and beauty treatments you make with ingredients in your pantry at PantrySpa.com
A couple that I really love for oily skin and pimples are: Acne Dermabrasion Treatment with Eggs.

i love home treatments. my favourite is a green tea face scrub. you make a cup of green tea, but only fill about a third of the cup with water. then put 3 tablespoons of sugar into a bowl, and add a tablespoon of green tea. then add a teaspoon of lemon, and viola!! green tea face scrub. you can also use it on you lips, which works really well. it makes my skin super soft and clear, and i get terrible skin at times! the scrub lasts for a week in the fridge, and you can use the left over green tea as toner. hope this helps!!

But of course, the best advice was the one I was hoping not to hear (curse you delicious foods!)

Forget the topical treatments for your skin. It's breaking out because of the foods you put inside. Eat fresh fruit, juice fresh fruit and vegetables (if you can) - DON'T EAT LATE and drink lots of water with a normal sleep. Skip the breads, starch and junk for a few days. Eat salads.

You're breaking out in the chin area because of yeast or sugar overdose probably.

If you want a topical treatment, let your skin breathe for a couple of days without products and you can steam it with a clay mask after, fresh aloe vera or whatever you've got.

(Honorable mention goes to strange spam that recommends to "Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you will not have a leg to stand on.")

Landon and I have been invited to attend the upcoming Chictopia10 conference! Even more exciting than my own invitation was seeing that my beloved and talented friend Alexandra Grecco has been selected along with four other designers to showcase her beautiful collection! I'm very excited as this will no doubt open the floodgates to much deserved success for her. Many congratulations Alex!

Now that we're back in wonderful, blizzardy New York I've begun unwrapping all of the goodies amassed while away starting with these five dresses that I'm trying to pick from for Saturday's events.

drest friend

my closet has been a bit of a wreck since we moved and up until today i hadn't touched two of the four wardrobe boxes i had stuffed in there. prompted by visits to a few vintage shops over in the lower east side yesterday i decided today to visit with some of my favourite treasures. i've been a very bad caretaker and have on display quite a wrinkly lot of dresses (ohh steamer, i dream of you) but i'm sharing them with you regardless! some on display for their sentimental value (first blue dress is my all time favourite - a christmas gift from landon our second year together) and others are new friends that i've yet to slip into (the wonderful fur collared with bows and buttons wedding dress). if you're curious to see more i've uploaded heaps of them over here!
