My Pal Sam

I'm writing this while tucked into a cozy bed in a Long Island home soon to be sleeping 19 other people, so getting my sleepy peaceful time in while I can! The reason we're stuffing so many bodies into one space is for my dear friend Sam and a short we're filming for her latest collection, set to debut this September fashion week. It seems then, a fitting time to share these photos we took at my dad's home last month. Sam brought up a mix of her current collection (which you can now buy directly from her here) and her forthcoming collection (lil sneaky peek).

Landon, after completing his 15 pieces for an upcoming show at Galerie Torri in Paris. If you can, stop by on the 8th for the opening reception! It's a beautiful collection.

Still reeling from last week's trip to "my ancestral lands" (England) with my mum but will have to write about that when I'm of clearer mind and have gathered together a collection of photos to share. For now, as summer is slowly drawing to a hot end, a photographic peek at the last two months. I've been greedy for summer adventuring.

BONLOOK Giveaway

With spring now officially sprung it seems the perfect time to run a giveaway from purveyors of retro inspired eyewear, BonLook. No doubt much to my mum's horror I've gone through two summers now without proper eye protection (finding glasses that don't make me look like an angry alien has long been the bane of my pale eyes existence). What a sweet relief then to find a pair in my postbox that don't make me look like an angry (ancient) alien and that have been with me now almost a month and not been lost/crushed/abducted by Landon (lots of alien speak happening, what thrilling google searches might this bring). Plus I think they look pretty darn good which is a victory to be sure.

Bonlook is generously offering you the opportunity to win your own pair of perfect protecting sunnies (or regular glasses of the prescription variety). All you need to do is follow BonLook's twitter or like them on Facebook then browse their collection and pick out the model you'd like to win (I'm wearing their Week-end at Bernie's style).

This giveaway is open to all, that includes you international pals!

I'll announce the winner a week from today (04/03/12). Good Luck!

within sight of my heaven

It's so beautiful here that I'd like to stay forever (something I never thought I'd say about the Ottawa region)! Every tiny task is made a million times better because of my surroundings - even doing the dishes and sweeping the floor is cheerful and fun. The cottage is three floors and on a hill with 30 (what!) windows on the third floor so it feels not unlike sitting up in a tree-fort. Best of all though is my little kitty friend who follows me everywhere and wakes me up by sitting on me and kneading my belly (aiding digestion?) I woke up the other day with a tiny paw sized bruise near my ribs thanks to her enthusiasm.

Landon's been on regular boat outings and is becoming quite the proficient kayaker. I made a rather pathetic attempt at my own outing but instead fell into the water while stepping into the kayak. Floating around on a water cushion suits me and my lack of balance a little better I think.

I realized in a quick review of my blog that you must think us rather solo characters, floating through life with just each other as company. I should remedy this one day and actually share with you some pictures and stories of the wonderful people who make our lives bright and exciting!

Click here for your musical mix! :D

(ps. Thank you for all your literary recommendations! I've not had a chance to get to the library but was incredibly pleased to find that my dad had brought his own collection up to the cottage! I have already made my way through Wuthering Heights and am presently reading Lady Chatterley's Lover with Women in Love lined up after! I will definitely be putting your list to good use when I'm home though and would recommend taking a look at the comments yourself should you be in need of reading inspiration.)

My sour face is terribly misleading as I have been in pure heaven these past twelve days! We were up at my Dad's newly acquired riverside cottage outside of my hometown Ottawa (hello to new friend Sarah up there! It was super meeting you and your male companion at Blues Fest). It was absolutely breathtaking and I was loathe to leave it so soon.  Being home is nice and as always I'm excited to get back to routine and business though will miss terribly hopping out to collect flowers for indoors, playing excessive amounts of boardgames (also watching excessive amounts of True Blood) and my dad's girlfriend's delicious cooking (you can find her scrumptious vegan recipes here).

Many thanks for all the kind comments on my last post! I did not have much opportunity to troll the internets while away but I promise that I am ever so slowly but surely poking around all of your blogs and playing catch-up.

s/s 10 inspiration

3251833807_b674081116_o

Today seemed unseasonably warm (for me at least) and had me dreaming of spring/summer attire. This summer I'd like a closet of white linens, lace, embroidery, high necklines, puffed sleeves, stripes, underwear as outerwear, straw hats (big hats, LOADS of hats!), lace gloves, pearl earrings and white socks. I've already begun attempting a variety of Helena B-C style up-dos but to no avail, I've ended up looking more like Bret's hair helmet (which is an accomplishment in itself I suppose). I put together a little bit of inspiration for eye-feasting below featuring some of my favourite on-screen fashions. What do you hope to have in your closet for this coming season? Who/what is inspiring you?
