The Lonely Doll

If you've not heard of Dare Wright it is my great pleasure to introduce you to her. Known best as the dreamy author of "The Lonely Doll" series she was also a photographer, painter, model, actress, seamstress, carpenter, stylist and beloved daughter of portrait painter Edith Stevenson Wright (a relationship not unlike The Beales in Grey Gardens). There are no words I could write here that would do her memory any justice so if you don't mind I'll just direct you here to read about this extraordinary woman!

More on Dare:
The Secret life of The Lonely Doll Biography. (This was my introduction to her last summer and have been enchanted by her since!)

  12. You always direct me to people I've never heard of and I'm always pleased to discover them! In theory, she reminds me of Lee Miller, the photographer/model/war correspondent and lover of Man Ray... someone I encourage you to check out too if you don't already know her.
