cat kissing you
Thank you all so much for getting my Kickstarter project off to an incredible start! If I could I would cat kiss you all!
We're down to one week left here and I really should be outside drinking a delicious beverage on the dock instead of updating the internet (priorities, I has them). I'm feeling a bit despondent at the thought of returning to the city. I'm all ready to move to my dream communal arty farm in the country, now! Who wants to join me? We can grow all our own food, make our own cosmetics, sew our own clothing, start an 80s hardcore band and watch true blood. Sounds dreamy right? I am looking forward to recommencing our family style friend dinners and I do miss my buddies lounging on our livingroom floor. There aren't any hot nuts on the side of the street (err, grassy path) here either, that's kind of an issue, and the Met isn't here and I can't take a train to see taxidermy animals arranged in fancy dioramas either. Here we have a water trampoline, a kayak that I have yet to step into again, a fireplace, a kitty that sits on my bum and an endless amount of delicious bread. There we have no bum sitting kitty, a mouse named GusGus that lives under our fridge, a George Foreman grill that I use to make caprese paninis, all my socks and a post office within walking distance. I dunno friends, help me fall in love with the city again.
I haven't had a chance to make a new mix for this entry so I'll leave you with this mix of awesome emo jams from the year 2000. These were my favourite songs when I was 15/16 and having feelings.

Well, I'll eventually be in the city! If that helps? <3
ReplyDeleteIt does! I'm always needing lady companions and you fit the bill just perfect. Funny? CHECK! Smart? CHECK! Livejournal? CHECK! GINGER? CHECK CHECK CHECK! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you on the artist commune. New York gets me real down, too. :(
ReplyDeletecat kiss cat kiss!! i speak from my honest heart when i say that my companions and i discuss the possibility of an art commune somewhere in the Mediterranean or (if i were to choose) somewhere in the country with lots and lots of sheep (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbqWhSA3BVU) where naked babies would run around and we would all make short films in two-day spans (something that happened recently and left us in sweat/tears yelling at each other and hugging at the same time) and roll around in grass. it would be the biggest honor for our future artist communes to maybe become sisters or even meld together for a super mother commune one day! and we'd have THOUSANDS of sheep and twice the number of painted naked babies and all the baked goods we could eat.
ReplyDeletehaha, all i want is to live in a city!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, and yes to all of these plans! My big dreams definitely involve growing my own food, sewing all of my clothing, and all those fun things. I actually just made my own copy of benetint, so I have head start on the making makeup thing. Oh, and this community needs to have goats, lots of little goats.
ReplyDeleteAna - New York is a hungry beast and sometimes I feel like I'm being eaten alive!
ReplyDeleteLaura - Let's do it! And yes, sheep, there will be sheep!
Sara - City living is super, don't get me wrong! It's just, well, man, you can't beat nature!
Vanessa - Yes goats! Did you make it out of beets? I'm all about beet stain blush!
How adorable how you kiss him over and over like child play. sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, you two are so beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous picturess !!
ReplyDeleteim excited for your move too :D
i love ur blog by the way :)
I am most definitely starting a commune, in country australia, (or perhaps country america, I did enjoy it so much) There will be an orchard, perhaps an olive grove, a bunny, a multitiude of kittens, beer brewing and endless sewing, crafting and baking. will you come visit?
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a commune of sorts too! I was wondering if you've ever watched an old British sitcom called The Good Life? Because for some reason or another you remind me of Barbara and I think you may like it. :)

hehe i just came back from the finnish countryside myself and it was soooo lovely! we visited my boyfriend's artist friends who, indeed, grow their own veggies, are surrounded by lake AND beach, and have a friendly kitty who became fast friends with me! PLUS, they had the coolest sauna that i wasn't able to visit (lady days :[). in short, I HEAR YA.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, so talented and it is a joy to read your posts!
ReplyDeletePlease enjoy New York for me... I have always wanted to visit the place, but living on (pretty much) the other side of the world, makes it very costly and difficult!
An artist commune sounds amazing also. Self sustainable building is the way to go.
Have you seen 'The Garbage Warrior' documentery?
My boyfriend and I dream of an off the grid Earthship. x
oh, i'll join you on your art farm in a heartbeat! could there be a lama? i hate lamas but i don't think that an art commune would be quite eccentric enough without a lama. also i'm allergic to anything furry (except, er, men). hmm. potentially a problem on a farm.
ReplyDeleteyour holiday sounds so great. enjoy your time back home!
It's so hard isn't it? I mean getting in and out of the city is such a feat in and of itself! The city is great. I will always have a deep love for NYC. My husband and I were living there when we met. So easy to romanticize, but such hard work just to breath. Great Idea! Let's roll around in fields and build bonfires and wash in creeks and wear all of our lovely clothing and our babies will have wild hair and they'll be so healthy from all of the cream they get from the tap. In true Kinks Village Green Preservation style!
ReplyDeleteYou always have the loveliest photos :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, wow

Oh darling I completely understand your love for the country I myself had to leave that behind, well I’ve always been a city Gal but I took a long trip and the moment it was time to come back life wasn’t the same hahaha!! Those places are so enchanting everything seems to make sense and the sky is so much pure and incredible like a dream that your actually participating in its brilliant!!_________ oh your photos are so adorable you and Landon make the perfect couple and that’s that. Both incredibly talented artistic and mesmerizing to look at. Am so glad your project is picking-up best of wishes coming your way Doll!♥
ReplyDeleteI am a city girl through and through. Strolling around my neighborhood and unexpectedly greeting friends on the street is such a delightful feeling. And cultivating relationships with local artisans is a pleasure- having the butcher ask after the sauce we made last sunday or having the baker wink and pull out a still warm loaf of bread. I love the community. And New York- the city of my heart- can be one of the best places for that, because even though it can be the hardest place to establish that feeling, I think (for that reason) it's ultimately the most richly rewarding.
ReplyDeletehow i'd love to join the commune, it sounds like such a dream. i always feel so torn between the city and country. the city has so many things i love - art, music, museums, shops, architecture - but i only truly feel at peace in the country.
ReplyDeletei'm glad you joined 8tracks (i'm vaudevilles on there), that place is so addictive, isn't it? and good luck with the kickstarter project! it's amazing to see everyone contributing and i really hope it's a sucess.
enjoy your last week in the country! x
Hey Hannah!
ReplyDeleteJust felt compelled to give you an insight into my own situation because it might help you in yours. I spent years where you are now, living in the city and dreaming of a farm in the country. Two years ago I left the city with my partner to move into our dream cottage in the country to grow vegetables and sit in the grass with our cats. Everything is perfect here, I make jam, we have old trees all around us and the animals are happy. Despite all that we are seriously cracking up, dying to get back to the smoke, concrete and excitement. We were too young to make the move (I'm 25) and realise now there is no rush, wait until you yourself start slowing down and mature as a person and it will suit you more, we are young and should enjoy the fast hectic life for now and the peaceful and tranquil one later in life. The grass is always greener on the other side, I would love to be where you are now and am in the process of moving back closer to civilisation lol!
I hope that helps, I'm not sure how well I've done at expressing my thoughts xx.
This is such a dreamy post! I want there to be a fashion blogger commune with a shared wardrobe...
ReplyDeleteI live on the wrong side of the world but that commune sounds perfect.
