Arizona Sunset

 

I've just returned home from a whirlwind three weeks away in Arizona and Los Angeles. The shop celebrated it's 2nd anniversary and I had the pleasure of working on a variety of promotional photoshoots for our soon to come new webshop. Not much else to say at the moment as I'm still completely knocked out by a red eye flight home!

Arizona Sunset

Last Monday I was reunited with Landon after his week in LA in sunny and deliciously warm, Arizona. We had three full days to enjoy the welcome heat and spent them visiting the botanical gardens, relaxing with Landon's mum's chickens and climbing up to the best sunset spot in town. Some of my favourite photos we've taken were taken in Arizona, the light and locations are still, after almost 9 years of visiting, so foreign and exciting to my Canadian self.

2012

2011 was an incredible rollercoaster of a year. A year of many firsts of both the great (opening our store, launching our collection, learning to drive & making wonderful new friendships) and the not so great variety. I'm not one for making resolutions and when I do the usual "avoid my list of foods that irritate my belly" it only lasts a few weeks before I can no longer avoid the inevitable grilled cheese sandwich (sweet sweet gluten and dairy, my enemies how I love you so). This year I'd like to make some though and that is to be more aware; more mindful of the precious present & of those around me. I hope my social interactions will leave my companions feeling warm, loved and heard. I hope that I can keep my tongue tamed and used for words of encouragement & focused on all the wonderful moments & people life has brought.

hairy christmas!

My christmas present came two days early when my terrific brother-in-law, Gavin, mixed up his very own cotton candy pink and slathered my canary yellow locks in it. You can visit him for your own mermaid hued hair do at his salon (owned by his pops) in Phoenix!

home tomorrow

My time in Los Angeles ended on a super positive note with everything at our sewers, the showroom organized and a most delicious punch-filled friday night sale (charming Meg snapped some photos of the event that you can see here). Tomorrow we return to New York and I plan on hibernating in our home for as long as I possibly can upon our arrival. This year has seen us in more airports than any year prior and while I do love a bit of adventure and hard work abroad I can't help but feel terribly homesick for my own surroundings and neglected friendships (plus staying in one place for more than a month means I can finally have kittens).

ps. I should specify that these pictures are from Sedona, AZ. So crazy beautiful there! We celebrated an early thanksgiving with Landon's family while on the west coast.

a continual state of inelegance

Nine airplanes, three rental cars and one boat later we are at last home! We've yet to unpack opting instead to make up for lost sleep and spend sumptuous amounts of time in our own bed. Our bed-rest is over as of tomorrow when we finally begin our strict work schedule (something I've been very excited about).

I'm presently working on a lookbook for The Loved One and am in need of a fresh face (a face that isn't my own) to shoot for it! I'd love to hear from you if you are in New York and willing to don a couple pieces of clothing and stand in front of a camera for me.
