spring, summer, fall, winter...and spring

spring ebaying

Thank you for all the well wishes on my previous post! Your kind thoughts were successful as my sense of taste returned just in time for a dinner of delicious chicken of the fried variety. I was also able to control my leaky nostrils for brunch with the truly lovely and most enjoyable breakfast companion Ginny of GinnyBranch fame. I left our meeting grinning unabashedly at having met such a jewel of a lady.

One of the changes I had planned to make on this blog was to avoid future updates featuring me wearing hats or sulking in front of my wall (will continue those vainglorious activities on flickr) but I'm making a special exception with this entry to announce the upcoming launch of our ebay store! I'm sharing the date with you because I will then be held accountable to honor that date (which I am unlikely to do if left to my own devises which include plenty of food procrastination, watching Emma Thompson movies and trying to push my teeth into a straight line with my thumbs - a so far unsuccessful venture). The date is March 21st, which along with being national teenagers day, children's poetry and single (I had written "singal" and couldn't figure out why dotted red lines were telling me I was wrong, perhaps should sleep and not write in blog while on nighttime medicine) parent's day is also the first day of spring (though wikipedia says otherwise). In celebration I've picked out a selection of spring-like attire including the dress above. In truth I'm a bit nervous about the whole online selling business - I feel not unlike grandparent's trying to navigate this new (to me) technology. My experience buying online is quite limited so selling will be interesting. While on the subject of internet selling I want to introduce you to an old friend of Landon named Tiffany! Tiffany runs a shop on etsy called Kitten Paws Vintage where she sells a delicious selection of hats and gunne sax. I was lucky enough to nab the perfect floral hat pictured below from her shop. Thank you Tiffany!

a love/hat kinda thing

straw hat with ribbon (and open top for buns!)

hat with bows

grey felt hat with red ribbon

boat! with velvet ribbon and bow.

blue felt hat

Newest additions to the hat collection! Many thanks to these two phoenix vintage shops for keeping my head happy - Hollywood Regency and MacAlpines (if you stop by to hunt for your own dream hat make sure to taste one of their delicious soup/sandwich combos! your belly will thank you.)

breakingrules

Thanks for all your dress voting! I've decided on the peach dress for tomorrow (after unsuccessfully trying to squeeze into the wee black and white prom dress - you lucky lot, my gain is your gain as I'll be putting that one up on Ebay). However, I've not yet decided if I want to be "the girl wearing multiple shades of pink sneaking cookies out of her purse" at my first New York fashion week. Need to find the right coat now!

It is definitely time to retire my digital camera, though I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the strange facial warping effects that leave me looking like a not so distant relative of Jocelyn Wildenstein.  Hopefully our camera woes will be remedied shortly when we are able to afford film and developing again.

If you're planning on attending either the Chictopia10 summit or the afterparty give me a tap on the shoulder and I'll share some secret snacks out of my purse with you!

outfit

Time for another hat update! I recently acquired a handful of new treasures from my wonderful mum-in-law (hand picked from her grand-mum's collection). I apologize for the dodgy photo quality - I've finally invested in a usb cable for my camera so I'll be able to upload photos of a slightly higher quality (I know it's a long shot but my fingers are still hopefully crossed that some jolly old feller is going to leave me a proper digital camera under the tree).

I'm once again afflicted with oozing, red eye due to improper lens care and have as a result a tiny trail of zits where my glasses sit and a temporary tearful/high looking eyeball. Hopefully eyeball will be clear and bright for our day of travel. We're leaving for Vancouver tomorrow embarking on a tedious 4am trip to Newark, I'm debating whether or not I should stay up all night watching movies and continue amateur embroidery projects or squeeze in a few hours of sleep before waking up in Mcallister family style and rushing around the house in a sleepy panic. Decisions, decisions.

I wish all of you traveling folks a smooth and safe journey!

garbage water on my walls

tyra and co would dismiss my "modeling" on account of my sole over the shoulder look, but surely i make up for it by smiling with my eyes? these are a few of my closet's (or rather, box of clothing behind a sliding door that i must dig through like a thrift shop to find my daily attire - must remedy this) new second-hand friends! the last headband is not done justice in that smirky photo, it is in fact a wonderfully severe velvet bow that points directly out (you can sort of make out it's form in the evening dress picture) and will be most excellent for this velvety holiday season. the pink velvet and satin headband above has a wonderful veil with rhinestones that make your face glitter and makes me feel shamelessly girly. these two headbands along with a good portion of my other hats were found at charming phoenix store Hollywood Regency, a spot i highly recommend for its beautiful vintage finds and cozy shopping experience.

summer is drawing to an end though you'd never guess it dripping your way around new york. it certainly eliminates any desire to cook and we are as a result on a diet of continual snacking, most delicious and sluggish of us. here is landon enjoying our most recent feast of snack while viewing some fine dining entertainment. i will have to have him model some of his newest attire when he has a moment to pull his nose out of harry potter. he is most handsome.

pink eye in brooklyn

we are quickly settling in to our new abode and will update shortly (once i manage to hunt down our camera to computer cord) with photos of it! out my window i see we are only a few blocks away from the water and i can see the city lit up at night, very charming. i'm feeling slightly under the weather and have been strolling around our new neighborhood with one pink eye. i manage to get pink eye at least twice a year and will be forever haunted by "knocked up" wondering who is passing gas on my pillow biannually.

aimee, i miss you!
