I had promised long ago to keep promotional shop posts to a minimum but as we've just moved and I've the most eyeballs on this blog than elsewhere on the internet I thought I'd give the old Loved One a hand. Please bare with me. I'll try to even it out with more substantial content like, hm, perhaps a feature on the current contents of my kitchen which is almost exclusively leftover valentine's day sweets. If you're in the neighbourhood and you've got a nasty case of sweet tooth please by all means join me as I poison myself with red dyed m&ms and various balls of chocolate.

I used to think myself capable of eloquently expressing my thoughts in written form but since livejournal's slow demise and my slow ascent into proper "adulthood" I've come to the conclusion that I probably never was and most certainly am not now. Present writing is a collection of repetition and gobbly guck. So I hope you'll forgive me this also (along with shameless shop promotion) as I'd like to start writing more in here and maybe even treating this old blog more like my favourite place on the internet, livejournal. (Commence embarrassing TMI posts and rapid loss of readership, just kidding. No secrets for you!) I miss the friendships that sharing ones thoughts and ideas creates. There is so much engaging conversation that's lost when all I put forth into the blogging world is a lot of flattering photographs of my surroundings. Basically, (and were I a decent writer you'd have reckoned this already) I want to write more to stretch that sadly unused writing muscle & get to know you better by engaging in more thoughtful commentary. So let's get to know each other shall we?

hair brained

let me braid your hair
For those of you who have expressed interest in learning more about my snooki brain hair I've made a tiny tutorial on the subject here! (I backdated the post because I was embarrassed to have it pop up on the main page lest some stranger stroll along and witness my sorry tutorial skills.)

Still in the midst of blog re-model and apologize if your screen is being harassed by my ginormous everything! In the meantime check out the new (and growing) links page! Am very pleased at finally sitting down and paying some much needed attention to this old blog.

Back soon pals! Here's a mix I made last August 31st.

pardon our mess

fingers

Working on a little blog re-design and am anticipating a rather peculiar looking page until we've nailed it. Bear with us (and the mega huge pictures)!

If you've picked up Lucky Magazine recently you may have noticed a vaguely familiar, though somewhat wizard-y, somewhat stoned (looking), mostly Loreena McKennitt me. A few months back I had the pleasure of spending a half day draped in Vena Cava, eating delicious catered snacks and being lectured by the make-up artist about my skin. (When I sat down she looked at me and said "so, what's going on with your skin". Lady, if I knew it wouldn't be happening! Actually, I did know, it had to do with baby prevention and a change in prescription and I'm happy to announce that through good thoughts, perseverance and a ton of asprin masks things are looking much smoother on this old chin of mine.) It was a fun project to be a part of and I'm always honoured (if not a little bewildered) when picked to take part in these types of things. The lovely ladies included in the spread: Thats Chic, Nova Style, From Me To You, Eat Sleep Wear & My Closet in Sketches.

I should be banned from using parentheses. I always imagine when using them that I'm telling you little corner mouth, hand covering, squinty eye secrets.

this july

pippin toes

My two months of big work travel adventure is finally drawing to an end and as a result will allow more time to get back to the important things in life like photographing my cats and pinching my face late at night. Also on the list: updating this sorely neglected bit of internet space. I'm also opening up our little ad side bar again now that I'm back on the blog track. If you're interested in promoting your shop and think that we'd make a nice fit let me know! We're working on a little blog re-design so the spots for July and beyond will be a tad different in size but I can fill you in on all that good stuff should you be interested.

Now that I'm kinda back around here I thought I'd ask, is anything in particular you'd like to see more of on this blog? To be honest I've been a bit relieved that I've not had time to devote to this blog cos I've not known what to do with it but I have also really missed the community and ten years of internet over-sharing is a hard habit to break (my writing skills have turned sour, you'll have to bear with me for a short while as I work this muscle back into shape). So what can I do for you, friends? What would you like? More painterly inspiration? More century old babes with mile high hair? Spotlights on my talented pals? Pippin and Bobo forever? Can I start grandpa'ing and regale you with comedic tales of my youth? (please say yes.) What can I offer here that isn't being offered a million times better elsewhere on the internet? (answer: nothing, but humour me.)

here is a mix from my favourite 8tracks user, collettesaintyves to listen to as you contemplate the future of this blog, hehe.

all those quick recipes

Saturday Landon and I attended the Chictopia10 summit, it was, put delicately, interesting. I was very flattered that we were invited but couldn't help the feeling that we were terribly out of place in this crowd of fashion blogging enthusiasts. I was shy and stuck mostly in my seat next to Landon occasionally making my way through the crowd of pretty ladies to fill a plate full of delicious snacks. The organizers had the best intentions but not exactly the best execution for those intentions as the conference suffered numerous technical difficulties and delays. I've no doubt though that their next conference will be a great success and I'm grateful that they considered us to join them. It was neat to see familiar blog faces in the flesh like fellow Canadian Lydia, California girl Erin, Quiksilver friend Taghrid and Susan of ModCloth. The day has left me with plenty to think about and I've decided to make a few changes to this blog. So as I start anew I want to share a few things about myself you may (or may not) know!

1. I am 25, I have been married for almost four years to my best friend Landon. We are, at present, without babies or kittens, we plan to remedy one of those things shortly, can you guess which?

2. Landon, while a bit beastman looking, is the most kind, peaceful and enlightened being I've had the pleasure of knowing. He also has incredible gap teeth (of which I am quite envious as my snaggle tooth is every day inching it's way out of my mouth).

3. We are rich in love but not in dollars. The result has made us thrifty shoppers leaving us with a home (and closet) full of priceless oddities. About 98% of my closet is made up of goodies I've found digging through smelly, often stained, occasionally peed hundred pound bails of clothes at raghouses. This glamorous shopping method has found me face to face with bloody bandaids, insects of all varities (one that hitched a ride home on my boob once) large crates that have fallen on me and a decapitated mouse head (and later the body). I'm a bit useless at shopping in the traditional manner now - there is no adventure in it!

4. This year I started my own vintage buying company with one of my greatest friends who lives on the west coast. My fingers are crossed as we shipped out our first order last week. It's an exciting and gratifying feeling to work for yourself (but scary when there is television, food and eventually a kitty or two to distract you).

5. I love women. When someone with the same bits as mine expresses affection towards me I am ebullient, I am as a result quite shy around the fairer sex at first which often sends the wrong message. I am caught in a highschool boy's cycle of affection.

Feel free to ask me some questions of your own! (perhaps while you are thinking of some you can pop over to Alex's blog and send her a picture of your rump! For rewards, of course.)
